This sale is of one print not the complete portfolio. 2012 Published by Landfall Press Edition of 30 Hand signed and editioned Roman numeral 'I' (one of only two Roman numeral subscriber editions that were made.) Altered lithographs some with digital elements some have hand watercoloring. Provenance: Woodlot Gallery, Sheboygan, Wisconsin Sheet Size: 20 inches by 16 inches Ruppersberg used photographs he made or found in combination with text and narrative strategies to investigate such issues as the role of the artist, the relationship between nature and culture, text and image, and fiction and fact. Allen Ruppersberg (born 1944) is an American conceptual artist based in Los Angeles and New York City. He is one of the first generation of American conceptual artists that changed the way art was thought about and made. His work includes painting, prints, photograph, sculpture, installations and books. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ruppersberg graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Chouinard Art Institute (now the California Institute of the Arts) in Los Angeles, California. During his early years in Los Angeles, he began significant relationships with John Baldessari, William Leavitt, Ed Ruscha, William Wegman and Allan McCollum. He participated in the 1969 exhibition When Attitudes Become Form, The show featured prominent artists such as Joseph Beuys, Eva Hesse, Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, Walter De Maria, Alighiero Boetti, Mario Merz and Robert Smithson. Allan Ruppersberg is recognized as a seminal practitioner of installation art, having produced works including Al's Cafe (1969), Al's Grand Hotel (1971) and The Novel that Writes Itself (1978). He has showed with all the great artists of New York and LA including Raymond Pettibon, Bruce Nauman, Richard Prince, Andy Warhol, Dan Graham, William Leavi
