The central concept behind YOUNG LADY, an armchair with a Viennese cane backrest, is its three-legged structure crafted from die-cast aluminium. The design merges two elements that may seem formally distinct at first glance: a lightweight, rotating tripod base in die-cast aluminium—complete with a visible shock-absorbing mechanism—and an embracing shell made of Vienna cane, stretched over a solid wood frame that has been hot-bent and precisely machined. This blend of aesthetics and functionality makes the armchair well-suited for a range of settings, from the home to the home office. More about Paolo Rizzatto: Born in Milan in 1941, he earned his degree in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan. In 1991, he began collaborating with Alias, designing the Young Lady armchair. This was followed by the Young Boy stool in 1993 and the Flexus sofa in 2000.
